Austin, TX | TI Office Project

Our small design team played a pivotal role in advancing Macmillan Learning's mission during the redesign of their 32,000-square-foot offices in Austin, Texas. The design approach emphasizes mid century modern simplicity, featuring predominantly earth-toned elements with sporadic bursts of color to infuse warmth into the environment. Custom-crafted bookshelves serve as prominent focal points, reinforcing the organization's core identity. The workspace is thoughtfully segmented to accommodate collaboration, focused work, and celebratory moments, fostering unity and synergy among Macmillan's diverse talent pool.

A significant design challenge arose in positioning the extensive training room and break room on the second floor above another tenant, necessitating structural reinforcement without disrupting the space below. The solution involved reinforcing the training room from above, attaching the beams to the concrete floor slab instead of encasing the beams on the lower floor with steel. Additionally, for enhanced flexibility, aluminum and glass partitions were incorporated, allowing the large spaces to be divided into two distinct rooms or three when needed.
